'Hakuro-nishiki' is a deciduous shrub or small tree, characterized by slightly drooping branch tips, and can grow up to 2.5 meters in height and spread. Its narrow, lance-shaped leaves, which can reach up to 10 cm long, start out pink in the spring. As they mature, they develop variegated shades of pink, creamy white, and green, before becoming predominantly green in the summer. In the spring, yellow catkins appear on bare stems, and in the autumn, the new growth stems turn an orange-red color.
